Healthcare providers play a vital role in helping mothers learn that their excess milk can make a lifesaving difference for fragile and medically vulnerable babies. Many mothers are unaware that milk donation is possible until a trusted provider starts the conversation.
When to Start the Conversation
Providers can introduce milk donation when a mother:

Donor milk saves lives. Pasteurized donor human milk is used for premature and medically fragile infants when a mother’s own milk is unavailable or insufficient.

Every ounce matters. Mothers do not need a massive freezer stash to donate. Even modest donations can support infants in need.

Outpatient Program
Our Outpatient Program helps families access safe, pasteurized donor milk directly from Mothers’ Milk Bank Southeast. It is designed to serve infants who have a medical need for human milk outside of the hospital, as well as babies who need temporary supplementation while breastfeeding is being established.
