Board Service FAQ

Q: When are board meetings held? A: Board Meetings are traditionally held the third Saturday at the start of each quarter (January, April, July and October). Meetings are held in person at Mothers' Milk Bank Southeast in Murfreesboro or board members can attend virtually. Meetings begin at 9 AM and we end by Noon.

Q: What are the financial requirements of board members? A: Board members are required to contribute financially on an annual basis. We value representation from all of the communities that we serve. Therefore, it is important to our organization that we do not set a minimum annual gift amount. We ask that you give at a level that is meaningful to you. Along with other funders and financial donors, we value 100% board giving because it demonstrates to future stakeholders the commitment of our leadership.

Q: Who is ineligible to serve? A: Individuals are ineligible for board service if they: * Do not meet the criteria listed above. * Have an immediate family member who is currently employed by Mothers' Milk Bank Southeast. * Have a conflict of interest or other circumstance that could interfere with their ability to fulfill the responsibilities of a board member independently and in the best interests of the organization.

Q: What are the board terms? A: Board terms are three years beginning January 1, 2027, and conclude December 31, 2029. Board members can serve two consecutive three-year terms for a total of six consecutive years of service.

Q: Are board members compensated? A: No, our board of directors are volunteers.

Q: When will applicants be notified of the status of their application? A: All applicants will receive a status update by November 1, 2026.

Q: What if I have additional questions? A: Please contact Executive Director, Amy Painter at 615-933-8877 ext. 6 or Amy.Painter@mymilkbank.org
